The academy said it would meet Dylan, 75, in private in the Swedish capital, where he is giving two concerts. He will not lecture in person but is expected to send a taped version. If he does not deliver a lecture by June, he will have to forfeit the prize money....

It's weird that he won't just forfeit the money. Having come this far, he should have kept aloof.

He's coming to Stockholm to do concerts, in his usual way, so doing nothing seems like it means something. It's like not taking a few minutes to see a relative when you're traveling through his city and you don't have a way to keep your presence secret. What Bob is doing is strictly in keeping with what he was doing before: Nothing. You know, too much of nothing can make a man feel ill at ease/One man’s temper might rise while another man’s temper might freeze. Especially in Stockholm.
