Bite #24, The Establishment of Citizens Commission for Human Rights:
The Citizens Commission for Human Rights was established in 1969 by the Church of Scientology as an Independent Social Reform body to investigate and expose psychiatric violations of human rights and to clean up the field of mental healing. At that time the victims of psychiatry were a forgotten minority group--- warehoused under dreadful, often terrifying conditions, in institutions around the world.
While CCHR compromises Scientologists and non Scientologists, it was Scientologists who first confronted the shocking and fraudulent acts of psychiatrists; that saw the arrogance of psychiatrists; its reckless incompetence. The Church of Scientology does not embrace or support psychology, psychiatry, psychotherapy or any of their offshoots. Scientologists are instinctively opposed to those who abuse their power or harm the innocent and weak.
Scientologists particularly object to the materialistic view advanced by psychology and psychiatry alike, that man is a soulless animal. (Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is Liberty. Even carved on our Liberty Bell, “Proclaim Liberty throughout the Land to all the inhabitants thereof:)
