Doggy's Doghouse 11/11/17
Remember this picture of Logan shopping from the other day? In the bag is his new winter coat. We tried to get him to try it on, but he refused.
Finally, he relented.....see Logan? Not so bad!

"I Want To Be Legendary"
As I suspected, ESPN's No. 1 recruit from the class of 2018 has committed to UConn. The quote above might make you think she believes it's all about her, but that quote is part of a bigger and better quote in the ESPN article I have linked in the UConn section.
"He (Geno) said I had the potential to be legendary," Williams said. "Obviously, Coach A knows what he's doing. Look at everything they've done. I want to be a part of it, too. I want to be legendary one day."
It's a great goal. To me it's similar to Brianna Stewart saying she wanted to win four championships. I love her attitude and her game. She WILL be legendary!
Here are a few videos of her playing. While she is left-handed she can finish at the rim easily with either hand. Watch the videos and then I'll tell you who I think she reminds me of.
So, what do you think? Looks to me like a bigger Skylar Diggins. The long range shot from the shoulder, the nice pull up jumper, the tricky drives to the basket.
So, you can have all the talent in the world, but if you don't work hard, it could be wasted. Looks to me there is a ton of hard work going into her game.
So, come off the ledge, UConn fans. The Huskies will not strike out for the 2018 class. And let me tell you something. Having the No. 1 recruit is better to me than having the No. 10, 15 and 20.
Still to decide is No. 5 recruit and No. 1 post in the 2018 class 6'4" Olivia Nelson-Ododa. My Spidy-sense is tingling!!! I know that she has never been a favorite to go to UConn but I just have a good feeling. We should find out by 11-15.
Welcome to UConn Christyn!!!!

I watched the game between No. 5 Ohio State and No. 10 Stanford with great interest. I'm working on my UConn/Stanford pre-game report. What? You thought I wouldn't be doing them again....HA!
Stanford lost to Ohio State 85-64. The Cardinal were led by their senior guard Brittany McPhee with 24 points but no one else was in double digits. They will really struggle against UConn's defense.
Defensively, they allowed 85 points but only because Ohio State was able to get off 85 shots. The Buckeye's shooting percentage were pretty lousy. Stanford defense? Or just poor shooting?
Stanford's biggest problem is rebounding. They were killed on the boards (thus the 85 OSU shots) 64-41 and gave up 28 offensive rebounds. That is a ton!
Hopefully I'll finish the Pre-game report Friday night. I have a few hours to do it.

A big opening night for WCBB top 25. Nineteen of the Top 25 will be in action.
I have plenty of links below. I'll add more as the other games end.
But we already had a big upset.
But we already had a big upset.
No. 16 Missouri lost to Western 79-76 in the opening game of the Hawkeye Challenge. It was certainly an upset, but I wasn't overly impressed with the Tigers. I do love Sophia Cunningham, who scored 25 points for Missouri, but the team around her is not that talented.

The first 11 games of this season will occur in November and December of 2017. Those games make up the bulk of the out of conference schedule and include one AAC game against Memphis. Here is Geno's record against each of those first 11 teams.
Stanford 10-7
California 3-1
Maryland 5-0
UCLA 4-0
Michigan State 1-1
Nevada (first meeting)
Notre Dame 34-11
DePaul 14-0
Oklahoma 10-0
Duquesne 2-0
Memphis 7-0
Stanford and Notre Dame have obviously had some success against Geno's Huskies. The rest of the teams, not so much. It all starts with Stanford on Sunday..!!
Go Huskies..!!
