Gameweek 18 - Daily Fantasy Premier League Tips
Starting 11 is a new Daily Fantasy Premier League football game and app, which has become extremely popular amongst the FPL community since August 2017, as managers get to pick a brand new fantasy team each week, without the headache of managing a season-long team.
As always, this week’s picks are suitable for all fantasy football game formats and will suit most scoring systems, so we hope you find good use for them, whether you’re playing Fantasy Premier League, or daily fantasy games over at Starting 11.
Gameweek 18’s headline fixture has Spurs heading to Manchester to face a City side that so far, cannot be stopped. They’ve managed to win 16 of 17 in the Premier League whilst drawing the other, and it’s difficult to see a fixture that will trip them up at present.
Elsewhere, there are a number of fixtures that could provide decent fantasy points - a rejuvenated Leicester hosting Palace and Arsenal welcoming Newcastle to the Emirates, to name just a few.

Safe Pick - Alexandre Lacazette
After coming on for just 8 minutes midweek against West Ham, we’re backing Alexandre Lacazette to be back in the goals this weekend. He’ll be up against a Newcastle side that’s hit a rough patch, with the Magpies winless in their last 8.
Lacazette scored in Gameweek’s 14 and 15 before failing to score in 71 minutes in a draw against Southampton over the weekend. The Gunners will have a great opportunity to get back to normal at home this weekend with plenty of goals (for Arsenal) expected.
Differential - Charlie Austin
Austin has to head to Stamford Bridge over the weekend to face a fairly solid Chelsea defence, but is in the midst of a run of four goals in four starts for Southampton so not all faith is lost.
The Saints managed an impressive draw against Arsenal in Gameweek 16 and were only narrowly defeated to Manchester City in Week 14, so fantasy bosses should give some consideration to Austin and Co. this week.
It’s also worth noting that whilst Chelsea don’t concede many goals, they have conceded to both Newcastle and Huddersfield in their last 3 Premier League games.
Midfielders
Safe Pick – Riyad Mahrez
Mahrez and Leicester City are flying once again in the Premier League and quickly picking up consistent momentum, sitting eighth off the back of four straight wins.
The Algerian midfielder has been at the heart of Leicester resurgence, with four goals and an assist in the Foxes last four matches, including scores of 20 and 20.8 in his last two matches on Starting 11.
A Gameweek 18 tie against Crystal Palace shouldn’t be too much of a concern for fantasy bosses, although they did well in the dying minutes to secure a 2-1 win over Watford midweek. Play Mahrez with confidence this week.
Differential Pick – Heung-Min Son
Spurs may not be favorites, but the South Korean midfielder could still make an impact for Spurs and secure differential points for your FPL and Starting 11 lineups in Gameweek 18.
Defenders
Safe Pick – Laurent Koscielny
Arsenal are at home to Newcastle United in Week 18, which should provide them a great opportunity for a clean sheet.
Koscielny is coming off a clean sheet against West Ham midweek, after a run of three straight was broken in Gameweek 15 at home to Manchester United.
Play Koscielny with confidence against Newcastle this weekend and possibly consider Cech and Bellerin also on Starting 11 if you’re tempted to stack an Arsenal defence.
Differential Pick – James Tarkowski
Sean Dyche is working miracles at Turf Moor this season, as Burnley now find themselves 4th in the Premier League table – hats off to you Dychy!
Whilst Burnley’s attack don’t score many goals, it’s their defence which is holding this team together, with 2 clean sheets in their last 2 outings making them a fantasy must-own.
Goalkeepers
Safe Pick – Petr Cech
Cech will be eyeing a second clean sheet in a row as the Gunners host Newcastle United this weekend. Doubling up with Arsenal’s defence (Koscielny) should be a smart way to set your lineup, with subs at the ready in case somehow disaster strikes.
As already mentioned above, Newcastle are no push-overs, but, I don’t see Arsenal struggling to against Rafa and Co. in Gameweek 18
Differential Pick – Adrian
Another manager who deserves a quick mention this week is West Ham boss, David Moyes – as Moysey has taken 4 points from a possible 6 in their last 2 outings against Chelsea Arsenal.
The decision to sideline Hart for Adrian has proven to be a masterstroke, conceding only 3 goals in his last 3 games, which also included Man City away.
Whilst Stoke’s recent performances haven’t been dreadful, they have conceded 7 in their last 3 and with pressure mounting on the Potters boss Mark Hughes, I fancy a comfortable West Ham in Week 18.
With limited premium names, form and matchups to pick our captains from this week, the likes of Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku won’t be popular captain picks this weekend.
Riyad Mahrez is in a run of incredible form and should have plenty of opportunities to continue his great points tallies of late against Crystal Palace this weekend.
Expect the Algerian to start and add to his tally of 3 goals and 1 assist in his last 4 outings.
