The school's policy is good, and the mother's objections are wrongheaded.

The school's policy isn't the best, but the mother is overdoing her objections and should go along with it gracefully for and work with school to consider whether and how the policy should change in the future.

The school's policy is bad for exactly the reasons the mother is pointing out.
