And......their season is over. Yes, the Notre Dame women's basketball team, the team that went from losing by one point in the championship game against Baylor to a team that went 13-18 on the season, 8-10 in the ACC and losing in the play-in game in the ACC tournament to Pittsburgh.

Yes, the Irish lost to the Panthers 67-65 in a very competitive game. This is the same Pittsburgh team that sent 5-25 this season, and 1-17 in the ACC. Unbelievably this was only the second win for Pittsburgh against a conference opponent. What a terrible way for Notre Dame to end it's season.

The Irish continued their shooting woes going 24-64 from the field and 4-16 on threes. They also had only 10 assists on their 24 baskets.

So, what's next for Notre Dame? Well, they lose their two Graduate Student players, Marta Sniezek and Destinee Walker. They were starters this season,  but I'm not sure how much the Irish will miss them.

Who will they add. Well, God willing, Abby Prohaska will be over her health issues and be able to play again. She had blood clots in her lungs and it might be tough for her to come back.

They have five freshmen coming in.

No. 23 recruit Madeline Westbeld, a 6'2" forward and sister to a former Notre Dame player, Kathryn, who ended up transferring to Oregon and starts for them. They say Madeline is a better player than her sister.

No. 25 recruit Allison Campbell, a 5'11" point guard.

No. 32 recruit Natalija Marshall, a 6'5" post. She was on UConn's radar at one time.

No. 44 recruit Alasia Hayes, a 5'7" point guard. She is sisters to Anatasia Hayes, who played for Tennessee before transferring to Middle Tennessee State.

Unranked recruit Amirah Abdur-Rahim, a 6'2" forward.

I don't see an impact player, but you never know. It's tough to stay in the top rung of WCBB with your recruits No. 25 and lower.

So, maybe the returning players will show great improvement and a few freshmen surprise. But I'm seeing only a slight improvement in the Irish next season.

Maybe make the tournament would be a good goal.

By David in Naples!!!!

Anna Makurat has had a interesting shooting season so far, starting cold and then getting very hot. Her stats are very unusual. Consider:

1. Her 54 three-point shots account for 66% of her total 82 baskets. Highest on the team, by far.
2. She has tried only 11 free throws, made 9 for a 82% rate. Aubrey has tried 73 free throws.
3. After her 0 for America start shooting threes, Anna is now making 47% of her threes.
4. Prior to the latest USF game, Makurat had scored 18, 17, 20 and 16 points in 4 games.
5. In addition to scoring, Anna is 3rd on the team in assists with 84, just 3 behind Megan.
6. Her 44 steals are tied for 2nd on the team.

Go Huskies..!!
