NYPost: How the White House protects Trump and his staff from coronavirus

WASHINGTON — The White House is holding meetings on how to reduce the threat of coronavirus infecting President Trump and his staff after quietly tightening visitor rules last month, The Post has learned.

In response to the outbreak of COVID-19, the White House has mandated that guests disclose all countries visited in the past 30 days. And further steps are under review by a group led by Tony Ornato, White House deputy chief of staff for operations.

The group was described to The Post by one senior administration official as a “task force” that convenes when necessary to address emerging threat situations.

The biggest visible change in the West Wing has been installation of hand sanitizer stations. But the senior official said temperature checks and ending public tours are possible if the crisis worsens — though neither is imminent.

Cabinet members, key national security officials, they should also be separated and within their departments key personnel should keep their distance from each other. The White House is not alone in doing this. My friends in China tell me that the Chinese federal government has compartmentalize itself. If one ministry is infected, it can be isolated within that ministry. I am also told that key people in the government are now being tested regularly. Chinese President Xi has also made himself scarce in the past ten days. My gut tells me that he is in a secured place where no one on the outside can come in. I have asked people I know in Russia on what is the Kremlin doing to protect Putin and his cabinet from being infected. So far no one has responded to my inquiries.
