Jeff Walz Press ConferenceJeff Walz gave us the pleasure of an online press conference Wednesday and was accompanied by UofL WBB SID Nick Evans and AD Kenny Klein.
Coach Walz talked about his efforts to better learn technology and online with virtual recruiting, Zoom meetings, and even simpler tasks such as scanning items.
We are pretty used to the scruffy look on Walz, but the facial hair has grown out. So, Walz and Paulie are pretty much twins at the moment.
Some of the other questions we heard circled around the recruits, Dana Evans' decision, and the outgoing seniors.
One thing Walz made abundantly clear is that he has no interest in leaving Louisville for Mississippi State. Naturally, some of our sensationalist, "gee-look-at-me" sports "journalists" (and I use the term lightly) are trying to link Walz with the job. They are dogs on the wrong scent in trying to track a fox. I suppose Walz said it best when he mentioned that success draws attention. The stupid "superiority" complex of the SEC thinks it can just wave and any coach will come running. Jeff Walz has about as much intention of leaving Louisville as 12 inches of snow falling in Tampa, FL on July 4th.
Seriously, can you EVER envision Walz coaching in a Mississippi town, surrounded by cowbells, 60's racists, confederate flags and a program that can't even keep a football coach successfully?
Paulie provided the SoundCloud recording yesterday afternoon. If you have not gotten a chance to listen to it yet GoCards did provide a video on their YouTube channel.

Jeff has mentioned a couple times how much he is missing volleyball. Normally, we would be in the heart of the spring season. To help him get through his no-volleyball woes we will look at photo highlights from the 2019 volleyball season. Volleyball made a historic NCAA Quarterfinals run the featured upset victories at Western Kentucky and Texas.
As we approach what is predicted to be the worst couple of weeks of COVID-19 please remember to continue to take whatever precautions you need. Projections show that the number of expected cases and deaths is substantially lower than what we saw from a couple weeks ago, which is a good thing and means people are doing what they need to do. Keep up the things that got us there. Social distancing. Staying at home. We will all get through this together.
We will continue to bring you the joy and excitement of UofL sports with whatever means we can.
Happy Thursday and Go Cards!
Jared
