 New Rankings

The new rankings have been released for volleyball and soccer, and we are not disappointed.

Volleyball jumped up three spots from #9 up to #6.  The Cards swept then-#8 Syracuse twice this past week to improve to 4-1.

Notre Dame sits one spot ahead at #5.  The Big 12 hold the top two spots with Texas and Baylor, respectively.  The SEC, which has not officially began volleyball, has Kentucky at #3 and Florida at #4.

Georgia Tech (9), Pitt (10), Miami (11), Duke (12), and Syracuse (14) round out the remaining ACC teams in the Top 15.

Soccer remained #13.  Louisville has not played since the first weekend in October after having a bye week.

North Carolina and Florida State still hold the #1 and #2 spots, as they have all year.  Clemson climbed up to #4, and Duke #5.  Virginia is the other ACC ranked higher than the Cards at #11.  Notre Dame rounds out the bunch at #14.

WBB Starts Practice

Louisville women's basketball began practicing again yesterday.  The Cards repped their masks during drills and the team shared a few photos on social media.

Soccer Showdown

Soccer is back in action today in a Top 15 showdown against Virginia in Charlottesville.

The Wahoos enter the match with a 4-1-1 record and a 2-1-1 mark in conference play.  Their match against North Carolina was cancelled, so Virginia last played on Oct. 4, when they took down Miami 3-0.

In six matches, Virginia has scored 10 goals for a 1.67 goals per match average.  They have allowed just six goals for an average of one goal per match allowed.

Lia Godfrey leads the Wahoos with two goals and three assists.  Diana Ordonez also has two goals along with one assist.  Six other players have recorded a goal.

Goalkeeping duties have been split so far this year.  Laurel Ivory has played 382 minutes over four matches with six goals allowed and five saves.  Cayla White has tallied 164 minutes in two matches with six saves and no goals allowed.

Louisville is 0-7 all-time against Virginia, all of which have taken place since the Cards joined the ACC.

The match will kickoff at 8:00 p.m., and will be featured on ACC Network.  They play after Florida State and Pitt play at 6:00 p.m., so there is a chance the Cards may kick off a tad late.

Happy Thursday and Go Cards!

Jared
