City News/Candian Press: COVID-19 modelling projects Canada could see 20,000 to 60,000 cases a day by end of 2020

 * New federal modelling suggests Canada could see between 20,000 and 60,000 cases a day by the end of the year
 * Data says Canada could see 60,000 daily COVID-19 cases if Canadians increase social contacts
 * New federal figures show rapid spread of COVID-19 in six provinces

OTTAWA (NEWS 1130) – Official modelling data shows Canada is on track to see between 20,000 to 60,000 new cases of COVID-19 a day by the end of the year.

The current average daily case count is close to 4,800, however, data released on Friday shows there is a rapid spread of COVID-19 in six provinces: B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec.

“The national epidemic curve shows that case counts have far surpassed peak levels seen during the first wave,” Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam said, adding, “15 per cent more daily cases were reported this week compared to the last.” If Canadians increase contact with others outside their household, daily case counts nationally could skyrocket to 60,000 a day.

WNU Editor: I live in Montreal and I can say with confidence that Covid-19 fatigue has settled in. Everyone is still wearing a mask in public places, but our case numbers are still increasing. We have also been very lucky with the weather. It has not gotten cold yet, but that is going to change dramatically in the next few weeks. A few of my friends and associates have tested positive for Covid-19. One was very sick for a month. Another was under the weather for a few days, but recovered quickly. Two others were tested positive, but showed no signs. Our hospitals are projected to be reaching capacity in the next few weeks.I am keeping all of my contacts to a bare minimum. I am now staying most of the time in the woods in my chalet in the Laurentians of Quebec.
