NEW ADVICE: The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices voted earlier this week that about 20 million people 75 and older and about 30 million front-line workers like firefighters, teachers and grocery store workers should be next in line for the shots
* The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices voted earlier this week that people 75 and older and some front-line workers should be vaccinated next
* That advice is different to the preliminary guidelines it issued at the beginning of the month that sparked outrage and fierce debate among some
* The preliminary advice had suggested all non-healthcare essential workers, totaling about 85 million people, should be prioritized over the elderly
* That recommendation was made, in part, because racial and ethnic minority groups are disproportionately represented in many essential industries
* It prompted a heated debate among health experts with some arguing that people would die unnecessarily if age wasn't considered ahead of racial equity
A CDC advisory panel has changed its recommendations to prioritize those aged over 75 in the next stage of the COVID-19 vaccine distribution after facing backlash for suggesting essential workers, who are more proportionally black or Hispanic, should be vaccinated before the elderly.

Update: How the Centers for Disease Control Went Woke (Washington Free Beacon)
WNU Editor: The people who are dying from this disease are primarily the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions. They and frontline health workers should be the priority. It makes no sense to me to vaccinate someone who is in their 20s or 30s because of their ethnic background, and who has an incredibly low probabilty of succumbing to this coronavirus.

Update #2: Another failure at the CDC? .... Doctors say CDC was 'too late' in requiring passengers flying from the UK to test negative for COVID and the new super-infectious mutant strain is 'already spreading in the US' (Daily Mail).
