The cyberattack carried out by a Russia-based group that disrupted U.S. meat production is likely a timed escalation just two weeks before President Biden meets Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the former Moscow chief for the CIA. 

White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Wednesday the U.S. 'isn't taking any options off the table' when it comes to talks with Russia on ransomware and other issues. The Russia government 'has a role to play' in stopping these attacks, she said.
